In the V-process (Vacuum Sealed Molding) casting, fused ceramic beads (electrofused alumina sand) are an ideal and widely used dry powder molding material.
Principle: The fused ceramic beads are spherical and have smooth surfaces.
Effect: During sand filling in V-process molding, the spherical sand flows like water, easily filling deep cavities, internal corners, and complex geometries of the mold. It naturally compacts without bridging, greatly reducing manual compaction effort.
Principle: The thermal expansion coefficient of fused ceramic beads is extremely low (approximately 1/10 of quartz sand).
Effect: During molten metal pouring, the sand mold undergoes minimal volumetric change, effectively preventing casting defects such as sand expansion or deformation. This makes it especially suitable for high-precision castings.
Principle: The uniform void distribution between spherical particles ensures consistent airflow.
Effect: Combined with vacuum pumping, it efficiently evacuates gases from the mold cavity and vaporized gases from the plastic foam pattern, reducing defects such as porosity and pinholes.
Principle: V-process sand handling generates large amounts of dust. Fused ceramic beads are synthetic, contain no free silica (silica dust), and generate less dust than quartz sand.
Effect: Significantly improves workplace conditions and protects worker health.
