1. Manufacture of expandable polystyrene (EPS) patterns
EPS vaporization patterns are produced either manually or by mechanical methods.
2. Foaming and assembly of EPS patterns, followed by drying
After foaming, the pattern sections are assembled and thoroughly dried.
3. Application of refractory coating
The surface of the EPS pattern is brushed or sprayed with refractory coating and then dried again until completely dry.
4. Placement of the special sand flask on a 3D vibration compaction table
5. Filling with base sand (dry sand), vibration compaction, and leveling
6. Placement of the dried EPS pattern on the base sand
Sand is filled in layers according to process requirements. After automatic vibration compaction for a specified time, the flask top is leveled.
7. Sealing and vacuum pouring
The sand flask is covered with plastic film, a pouring cup is installed, and the vacuum system is connected. After compaction under negative pressure, molten metal is poured. The EPS pattern vaporizes and disappears, and the molten metal occupies its space.
8. Cooling, vacuum release, and shakeout
After the casting solidifies, the vacuum is released, the flask is inverted, and the casting is removed, completing one production cycle.
